Monique Dubose is a visionary who will lead the Tacoma, Pierce & Kitsap Counties region of the largest mentoring agency in the state.
After conducting an extensive six-month search, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound has hired Monique Dubose as the Regional Director for Tacoma, Pierce and Kitsap Counties. Monique Dubose previously served as an educator and Open Doors case manager for the Puyallup School District. She focused on supporting young people in building self-confidence, emotional well-being, and career development.
Additionally, Monique spent 20 years in the US Air Force. There she was responsible for co-authoring the first ever military resilience training course delivered to over 10,000 active duty and reserve military personnel and their families. Dubose’s training and experience in resilience and positive psychology make her uniquely suited to help the Tacoma, Pierce & Kitsap County communities bounce back from the devastating effects of the pandemic, especially the negative impact on youth and young adults.
“I’m honored to serve the rich communities of Tacoma, Pierce, and Kitsap Counties with the empowering work of youth mentoring. I’m excited to join a team that is devoted to serving community and developing community connections,” said Monique. “My career has been focused on empowering people to believe in themselves and trust that they can conquer anything. I am thankful for the mentors I have had in my life and I’m excited to offer the same leadership and support to youth. I look forward to partnering with families, corporate and community leaders to unleash the potential of South Sound youth.”
Since retiring from the military as a Master Sergeant 10 years ago, Monique has focused on community leadership, business consulting, and youth advocacy. She is best known in the youth service arena for her unique way of building and maintaining positive relationships and helping youth discover their personal best. Winner of the John H. Anderson Military Citizen of the Year Award in 2017, Dubose has years of demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of young people and adults in the South Sound.
Monique is also a motivational speaker known for infusing motivation and storytelling with practical strategies and solutions to shift mindsets and drive positive action. She is the author of the “Use Your Power to Empower” journal/workbook and a speaker featured on TEDx.
“We are excited to have someone with Monique’s diverse background and distinguished service join Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said Alonda Williams, BBBSPS CEO and President. “Monique is powerfully positioned to work hand-in-hand with partners and mentors throughout the South Sound to support and empower young people.”
Monique was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to the Tacoma area 16 years ago. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University and received a Master Resiliency Instructor Certification from the University of Pennsylvania. Monique is a wife, mother, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
